DVIR and truck inspection software
DVIR software your drivers can finish in two minutes
Drivers tap through the inspection on their phone, mark anything that's wrong and add a photo. Each defect becomes a work order for the shop, a mechanic signs off the repair, and the next driver reviews it before rolling.
No sign-up to look around · Trailers and users free · From $690 a year
Who it's for
For fleets that want driver inspection reports off paper, and for maintenance teams who want defects to reach the shop the same day they're found. DVIRs are part of the Pro plan.
The problems it solves
Paper reports get lost
Carbon copies end up in the truck, in the trash or in a pile no one reviews.
Defects don't reach the shop
A driver writes it down, but nobody turns it into a repair until it fails.
The loop never closes
There's no record that the repair was done or that the next driver saw it.
What CDLBoss does
Pre- and post-trip on the phonePro plan
A checklist covering the parts and accessories in 49 CFR 396.11, for the tractor and the trailer. One tap marks everything that's fine.
Defects with photosPro plan
Drivers mark a defect, describe it and add photos. The office sees it right away.
Defects become work ordersPro plan
Each defect turns into a work order automatically, so it goes into the shop's queue instead of a drawer.
Repair sign-off and driver reviewPro plan
A mechanic certifies the repair, or that it wasn't needed, and the next driver reviews and signs before driving.
Unsafe units stand outPro plan
Units with open defects or marked unsafe are flagged on the dashboard and the unit page so they aren't dispatched by mistake.
Mileage at every inspectionPro plan
Drivers enter the odometer, which keeps mileage-based PM schedules accurate.
Driver sign-in with a phone number
No email needed. CDLBoss runs in the phone's browser and can be added to the home screen. Driver screens are available in Spanish.
Alerts on the driver's phonePro plan
Push notifications and text messages when a repair is done, an inspection is due, or a CDL or medical card is about to expire.
What you get out of it
- Inspection reports that are complete, signed and easy to find
- Defects reach the shop the day they're found
- A recorded repair certification and driver review for every defect
- Less paper in the trucks and the office
Driver inspection rules are set by 49 CFR 396.11 and 396.13. CDLBoss records the reports electronically, which 396.11 allows under 49 CFR 390.32. Your company is still responsible for making sure inspections are done and defects are repaired.
Questions
Do drivers have to fill out a DVIR every day?
Under the current 49 CFR 396.11, drivers must prepare a report at the end of each day's work for each vehicle they operated if a defect or deficiency was found or reported to them. If none was found, a report isn't required. Many fleets still have drivers inspect and record every trip as company policy.
How long do we keep DVIRs?
The driver's report, the certification of repairs and the certification of the driver's review must be kept for three months from the date the report was prepared (49 CFR 396.11).
Can DVIRs be electronic?
Yes. 396.11 and 396.13 allow reports to be created and kept electronically under 49 CFR 390.32.
Do drivers need to download an app?
No. Drivers sign in with their phone number in the phone's browser and can add CDLBoss to their home screen.
