Who it's for

For maintenance managers and fleet owners who want PMs done on time without keeping a calendar, a spreadsheet and a stack of service invoices in sync by hand.

The problems it solves

  • High-mileage units outrun the calendar

A truck running 3,000 miles a week hits its PM long before the date on the wall chart.

  • Last-service dates go missing

When the service record isn't written down, the next due date is a guess.

  • Reminders depend on one person

If the person who tracks PMs is out, so is the tracking.

What CDLBoss does

Intervals by days, miles or hours

Each service type can use any combination. Whichever comes first sets the due date, so a busy truck never waits for the calendar.

Your own service types

Start from defaults for PM, annual DOT inspection and registration, then add your own, like PM-A, PM-B or reefer service, for trucks, trailers or both.

Due soon and overdue at a glance

Color-coded status on the dashboard, the fleet list and each unit's schedule, sorted by what's most urgent.

Reminders to the right person

Assign each schedule to a person or a shop. CDLBoss sends reminders in the app and by email before it's due.

Mileage that stays current

Update odometer readings from the unit page or import them. CDLBoss flags units whose mileage hasn't been updated in a while, since mileage-based due dates depend on it.

Complete a service in a few taps

Record the date, mileage, shop and cost. The next due date is worked out from what was actually done.

Follow-ups and recommendations

Shop said the brakes are at 30%? Add a dated reminder so it doesn't get forgotten.

Mileage from driver inspectionsPro plan

Drivers enter the odometer at each inspection, which keeps mileage-based PMs accurate.

What you get out of it

  • PMs done on schedule, not after a breakdown
  • A service history for every unit that shows what was done, when and by whom
  • Less downtime from problems a PM would have caught
  • A clear picture of your on-time PM rate in the reports

Questions

How do we set up PM schedules for a whole fleet?

Import your units with their last service dates and mileage. CDLBoss creates the schedules from your service types and intervals. You can change any of them per unit afterwards.

Can different trucks have different intervals?

Yes. Set a default for each service type and change it for any unit that runs differently, like a local truck versus an over-the-road one.

Does CDLBoss read the odometer automatically?

No. Mileage is entered by your team, imported, or captured when drivers do their inspections on the Pro plan. CDLBoss warns you when a unit's mileage is out of date.

Is preventive maintenance required by law?

49 CFR 396.3 requires motor carriers to systematically inspect, repair and maintain the vehicles they control and keep records of it. The regulation doesn't set specific PM intervals; those are up to you and your equipment makers.
